Cycling is the third most recreational sport in the U.K and around 3.1 million people cycle every month around the country and it is one of the easiest ways to fit exercise in your daily routine because it’s also a form of transport: it saves you money, it’s very good for the environment and gets you fit at the same time, and that’s why it appeals to such a broad range of people you and me included!!
It is a low impact exercise and therefore I highly recommend as an alternative to running, as it still helps getting you in shape as you will burn more than 500 calories in one hour of cycling as well as conditioning legs, bottom and upper body!!
So get yourself a safety helmet, a high visibility jacket and gloves and try to cycle 2-3 days per week to work and you will soon feel the benefits!!
Make sure you fuel yourself with a good balanced breakfast or snack (follow my breakfast tips from last week newsletter!) about one hour prior to cycle and drink plenty of water prior, during and after cycling, and most important when you get off the bike STRETCH your legs as the have been working really really hard (front and back of the legs and bottom!).
